How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Putrid Goblin enters the battlefield, Geralf's second ability triggers, putting a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the number of other Zombies that entered the battlefield under your cotnrol this turn.
4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability
5. Repeat.

This wicked loop turns the endless cycle of Putrid Goblin into an engine for an unstoppable horde, all orchestrated by Shilgengar, Sire of Famine and Geralf, the Fleshwright. By feeding the Goblin to Shilgengar, you generate Blood tokens while triggering the Goblin's persist ability to bring it right back to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter. Geralf, the Fleshwright steps in to neutralize that drawback: whenever the Zombie enters, its ability places enough +1/+1 counters to immediately cancel out the -1/-1 counter, resetting the Goblin so it can be sacrificed over and over again.
