Infinite +1/+1 counters on a creatureInfinite death triggersInfinite creature ETBInfinite creature LTBInfinite creature sacrifice triggersInfinite scry 1

How it works

  1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Putrid Goblin.
  2. When Putrid Goblin dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Putrid Goblin enters the battlefield, Geralf's second ability triggers, putting a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the number of other Zombies that entered the battlefield under your cotnrol this turn.
  4. Resolve the Woe Strider ability, causing you to scry 1.
  5. Repeat.

This loop turns Woe Strider into an endless sacrificial altar for Putrid Goblin, whose persist ability brings it straight back from the graveyard every time it meets its end. Because the -1/-1 counter from persist immediately meets and cancels out the +1/+1 counters granted by Geralf, the Fleshwright's scaling zombie trigger, Putrid Goblin never accumulates a permanent deficit of counters to stop the cycle. With Woe Strider handling the sacrifices and providing free scry manipulation at every step, you get an infinitely repeating engine of death and rebirth.
