How it works

1. Animate Mana Vault using Tough Cookie.
2. Activate Mana Vault by tapping it, adding CCC.
3. Activate Voltaic Construct by paying 2, untapping Mana Vault.
4. Repeat from step 2.

This ingenious setup transforms the self-punishing Mana Vault into a clean, repeatable engine by turning it into a creature with Tough Cookie's animated ability, making it a legal and convenient target for Voltaic Construct. Once the Vault is brought to life, tapping it for three colorless mana more than pays for the Construct's two-mana untap cost, leaving you with a net gain of one colorless mana per cycle. Because Voltaic Construct untaps *any* artifact creature, you can loop this process indefinitely to generate infinite colorless mana while keeping your animated Mana Vault primed and ready for whatever you need.
