How it works

1. Cast Exchange of Words by paying 1.
2. When Exhcange of Words enters the battlefield, it triggers, switching the text boxes of Soldevi Simulacrum and Tough Cookie.
3. Activate Tough Cookie by paying 0, giving itself +1/+0 until end of turn.
4. Repeat step 3.

By dropping Exchange of Words to trade the text boxes of Tough Cookie and Soldevi Simulacrum, we create a hilarious rules quirk that completely hijacks the game's text engine. Because Tough Cookie has acquired Soldevi Simulacrum's activated ability—which normally costs `{1}` to pump—it is now backed by Sam, Loyal Attendant's static ability that discounts Food activated abilities by `{1}`. This means that `{1}` ability now effectively costs `{0}` to activate, letting you pump your creature infinitely. To pull this off safely, Tough Cookie brings its own initial Food token to the table, and Sam, Loyal Attendant dutifully churns out another one at the beginning of combat on your turn to keep the machinery greased.
