How it works

1. Cast Strength of Will by paying 1, targeting Deathbringer Thoctar.
2. Activate Deathbringer Thoctar by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, dealing 1 damage to it.
3. Deathbringer Thoctar triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on it due to Pir.
4. Activate Deathbringer Thoctar by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, dealing 1 damage to any target.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This loop turns Deathbringer Thoctar into a self-sustaining engine by exploiting the damage-doubling synergy of Pir, Imaginative Rascal. When you target Deathbringer Thoctar with Strength of Will, it gains both indestructible and the ability to grow when dealt damage, meaning its own activated ability can safely harm it without destroying it. Each time Deathbringer Thoctar pings itself for 1 damage, the resulting +1/+1 counter trigger is amplified by Pir, Imaginative Rascal's replacement effect to net a surplus counter. By repeating this process, you generate infinite +1/+1 counters to fuel Deathbringer Thoctar's ability to deal infinite damage to any target.
