How it works
If Grim Poppet has any -1/-1 counters on it, activate it by removing a -1/-1 counter from it.
Repeat step 1 as necessary until Grim Poppet has no -1/-1 counters on it.
Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Grim Poppet.
When Grim Poppet dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
Repeat.
Resolve all Grim Poppet abilities, putting infinite -1/-1 counters on any number of creatures.
This engine leverages the cyclical rebirth of Grim Poppet to continuously manipulate the battlefield, fueled by the persistent safety net granted by the reverse face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight. While Eirdu's front side gives your creature spells convoke, it's the backside—Isilu—that provides the crucial static ability giving your nontoken creatures persist, ensuring that whenever Grim Poppet hits the graveyard, it crawls right back with a -1/-1 counter. You strip away Grim Poppet's initial counters using its own activated ability to spread -1/-1 misery to opposing threats, then feed it to Umbral Collar Zealot's sacrifice outlet to trigger the persist loop, letting you repeat the process indefinitely for infinite surveil and death triggers.
