How it works

1. Activate Battered Golem using the ability granted to it by Fire Whip by tapping it, dealing 1 damage to Smaug.
2. Smaug triggers, creating a Treasure token.
3. When the Treasure enters, Battered Golem triggers, untapping Battered Golem.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the fiery wrath of Smaug the Impenetrable into a self-sustaining engine by exploiting Battered Golem's unique knack for untapping whenever an artifact enters the battlefield. Equipping Battered Golem with Fire Whip grants it the direct-damage tap ability needed to ping Smaug for one noncombat damage, which safely triggers the dragon's hoard to spew forth a Treasure token without harming its indestructible scales. Every time that Treasure token hits the battlefield, it satisfies Battered Golem's triggered ability to untap, leaving the construct ready to tap and fire all over again.
