How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Marionette Master.
2. When Marionette Master dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Marionette Master enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Isilu, Carrier of Twilight—the night-facing side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn—into an engine that grants persist to your non-token creatures, most importantly Marionette Master. By feeding Marionette Master into Thermopod, you generate red mana while sending the Master to the graveyard, where its new persist ability immediately brings it back with a -1/-1 counter. That return triggers Marionette Master's fabricate ability, placing a +1/+1 counter on it that neatly cancels out the -1/-1 counter. Because every sacrifice of Marionette Master is an artifact going to the graveyard, its final ability triggers continuously to drain your opponents' life totals out of existence.
