How it works

1. Cast Whitemane Lion by paying 0 and 2 life due to Defiler of Faith and Oketra's Monument.
2. Defiler of Faith and Oketra's Monument trigger.
3. Resolve the Defiler of Faith trigger, creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
4. When the Soldier enters, Hinterland Sanctifier triggers, causing you to gain life.
5. Resolve the Oketra's Monument trigger, creating a 1/1 Warrior creature token.
6. When the Warrior enters, Hinterland Sanctifier triggers, causing you to gain life.
7. Resolve Whitemane Lion. When it enters, it and Hinterland Sanctifier trigger.
8. Resolve the Whitemane Lion trigger, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
9. Resolve the Hinterland Sanctifier trigger, causing you to gain life.
10. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns a simple feline into a self-sustaining army by stacking cost reductions until a white creature spell becomes completely free. With both Defiler of Faith and Oketra's Monument shaving the mana requirements down to zero and letting you pay life instead, you can repeatedly cast and recast Whitemane Lion without ever running out of resources. Every time the Lion enters the battlefield, its own self-bounce trigger returns it safely to your hand while simultaneously fueling Hinterland Sanctifier to offset the life spent on the Defiler. Along the way, the cast triggers from your cost reducers flood the board with an endless supply of Soldiers and Warriors, generating infinite enter-the-battlefield and lifegain triggers to overwhelm your opponents.
