How it works

1. Activate Goblin Bombardment by sacrificing Evernight Shade
2. When Evernight Shade dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
3. Resolve the Goblin Bombardment ability.
4. Activate Goblin Bombardment by sacrificing Evernight Shade
5. When Evernight Shade dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
6. Evernight Shade enters and dies as a state-based action due to having 0 toughness. Its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
7. Resolve the Goblin Bombardment ability from step 4.
8. Repeat from step 4.

This clever loop turns Evernight Shade into an endlessly recycling ammunition source by bouncing it back and forth between the graveyard and the battlefield. Goblin Bombardment provides the sacrificial outlet to repeatedly hurl the Shade at your opponents while converting each death into lethal damage. The real engine, however, is Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight; its back side grants persist to your other nontoken creatures, which elegantly alternates with the Shade's native undying ability to continuously strip away and reset its counters despite state-based actions.
