How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Ulasht.
2. When Ulasht dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its replacement effect.
3. Repeat.

This elegant loop relies on Isilu, Carrier of Twilight—the night-facing side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn—to grant your other nontoken creatures the persist ability, ensuring that when Ulasht, the Hate Seed heads to the graveyard, it immediately returns to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter. You then sacrifice Ulasht to Phyrexian Altar to generate mana and trigger its death, allowing the persist loop to continue indefinitely while feeding back into whatever sacrificial yields you desire.
