How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Rakdos Carnarium.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Phantom Train by sacrificing Rakdos Carnarium.
5. When Rakdos Carnarium dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Rakdos Carnarium from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Rakdos Carnarium enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Resolve the Phantom Train ability
8. Repeat.

This clever engine transforms ordinary artifact casting into a perpetual loop of recycling and re-entry, fueled by Toph, the First Metalbender turning your artifacts into lands. With that foundation set, you cast a free artifact, triggering Toph, Hardheaded Teacher to earthbend Rakdos Carnarium into an animate creature-land. You then sacrifice that land-artifact to Phantom Train, sending Rakdos Carnarium to the graveyard and triggering Toph, Hardheaded Teacher's safety net to return it straight to the battlefield tapped. When Rakdos Carnarium enters, its own bounce ability forces you to pick up the free artifact you just cast—which is legally a land thanks to Toph, the First Metalbender—allowing you to cast it all over again and repeat the entire sequence.
