How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Rakdos Carnarium.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Rakdos Carnarium.
5. When Rakdos Carnarium dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Rakdos Carnarium from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Rakdos Carnarium enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability
8. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns a zero-cost artifact into an engine of endless iteration by rewriting the rules of the battlefield. Toph, the First Metalbender does the heavy lifting by turning all your nontoken artifacts into lands, transforming ordinary items into eligible targets for your animated land loops. When you cast your artifact, Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers to earthbend Rakdos Carnarium, turning the bounceland into an animate creature. You then feed Rakdos Carnarium to Umbral Collar Zealot's sacrifice ability to surveil 1, which triggers Toph, Hardheaded Teacher's safety net to bring the fallen land right back to the battlefield tapped. When Rakdos Carnarium re-enters, its own triggered ability forces you to return a land to your hand—and because Toph, the First Metalbender makes your zero-cost artifact a land, you scoop it right back up to recast, ready to repeat the cycle infinitely.
