How it works

  1. Cast Mourning by paying 2 life, targeting K'rrik.
  2. Aetherflux Reservoir and K'rrik trigger.
  3. Resolve the K'rrik trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
  4. Resolve the Aetherflux Reservoir trigger, causing you to gain an amount of life equal to your storm count.
  5. Resolve Mourning, attaching it to K'rrik.
  6. Activate Mourning by paying 2 life, returning it to your hand from the battlefield.
  7. Repeat.
  8. Once you have infinite life, you may use Aetherflux Reservoir's ability to deal infinite damage to any target(s).

This elegant loop turns the life-paying mechanics of K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth into a lethal storm engine, completely bypassing traditional mana costs. With Starnheim Courser reducing the enchantment's cost to zero black mana, Mourning can be continuously cast and bounced back to your hand for a mere 4 total life—a cost easily offset by the life gained from Aetherflux Reservoir tracking your ever-growing spell count. As you repeat this process, K'rrik grows perpetually larger with each cast, and the Reservoir eventually converts your boundless life total into an overwhelming blast of infinite damage.
