How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Gray Merchant.
2. Activate Chainer by paying 9 life due to K'rrik, returning Gray Merchant from your graveyard to the battlefield as a Nightmare in addition to its other creature types.
3. When Gray Merchant enters, it triggers, causing each opponent to lose life equal to your devotion to black and causing you to gain that much life.
4. Repeat.

This loop turns your life total into an endless engine of resurrection and drain, fueled entirely by the black-mana-substituting power of K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth to bypass Chainer, Dementia Master's steep mana requirements. By using Umbral Collar Zealot to cleanly sacrifice Gray Merchant of Asphodel into the graveyard, you set the stage to bring it right back through Chainer—who also conveniently pumps your entire board with +1/+1 bonuses as they become Nightmares. Every single iteration of this cycle triggers Gray Merchant of Asphodel's devotion drain to effortlessly outpace the life you paid into K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth and Chainer, Dementia Master, ending the game by draining all opponents to zero.
