How it works

1. Activate Eldrazi Displacer by paying 2C, blinking Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
2. When Gray Merchant of Asphodel enters the battlefield, it triggers, causing each opponent to lose life equal to your devotion to black, and causing you to gain that much life.
3. Workhorse triggers, putting at least three +1/+1 counters on itself.
4. Activate Workhorse three times by removing three +1/+1 counters from it, adding CCC.
5. Repeat.
6. If your devotion to black is at least four, or you have at least two opponents, this combo nets infinite +1/+1 counters on Workhorse and colorless mana.

This loop relies on an exquisite synergy between lifegain and counter manipulation to generate boundless resources. By enchanting Workhorse with Light of Promise, every drop of life you gain translates directly into fuel for the beast's modular counters. Eldrazi Displacer acts as the engine, blinking Gray Merchant of Asphodel to drain the table and restore your life total. As the Merchant re-enters, the resulting lifegain triggers Light of Promise to instantly restock Workhorse's counters, which you then peel off for colorless mana to pay for the next Eldrazi Displacer activation.
