How it works

1. Activate Eldrazi Displacer by paying 2C, blinking Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
2. When Gray Merchant of Asphodel enters the battlefield, it triggers, causing each opponent to lose life equal to your devotion to black, and causing you to gain that much life.
3. Cryptic Trilobite triggers, putting at least two +1/+1 counters on itself.
4. Activate Cryptic Trilobite's first ability twice by removing two +1/+1 counters from it, adding CCCC that can only be spent to activate abilities.
5. Repeat.

This crafty loop bridges the gap between massive lifegain and heavy-mana ability activation to drain the table dry. With Sunbond enchanting Cryptic Trilobite, every flicker of Gray Merchant of Asphodel triggers a surge of life that blankets the Trilobite in fresh +1/+1 counters. You can then strip those counters away using Cryptic Trilobite's own mana-producing ability to generate the colorless mana needed to feed Eldrazi Displacer's blinking upkeep. Because the mana produced by the Trilobite can be spent on abilities, it seamlessly funds the Displacer's exile-and-return routine over and over again, repeating the Gray Merchant's devotion-counting drain until your opponents have nothing left.
