How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Shepherd of the Cosmos.
2. When Shepherd of the Cosmos dies, Necrogen Communion triggers, returning Shepherd of the Cosmos from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. When Shepherd of the Cosmos enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Necrogen Communion from your graveyard to the battlefield attached to Shepherd of the Cosmos.
4. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
5. Repeat.

This loop creates a self-sustaining cycle of sacrifice and resurrection by leveraging a clever permanent-swapping recursion loop. Carrion Feeder serves as the outlet, consuming Shepherd of the Cosmos to grow larger with +1/+1 counters while sending the angel to the graveyard. Fortunately, Necrogen Communion is enchanted to the Shepherd, triggering its own ability upon the angel's death to immediately return Shepherd of the Cosmos to the battlefield. That re-entry then triggers the Shepherd's own ability, plucking Necrogen Communion right back out of the graveyard and attaching it to the angel once more, leaving the board primed to repeat the entire process indefinitely.
