How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Shepherd of the Cosmos, adding one mana of any color.
2. When Shepherd of the Cosmos dies, Fungal Fortitude triggers, returning Shepherd of the Cosmos from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. When Shepherd of the Cosmos enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Fungal Fortitude from your graveyard to the battlefield attached to Shepherd of the Cosmos.
4. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns the graveyard into an endless engine of rebirth, fueled by the relentless sacrifice outlet Phyrexian Altar. When you sacrifice Shepherd of the Cosmos to the Altar for mana, Fungal Fortitude steps in to immediately return the Shepherd from the graveyard back to the battlefield. That triumphant re-entry triggers the Shepherd's own ability, pulling Fungal Fortitude right back out of the graveyard and attaching it once more to the Shepherd. Because the Shepherd's mana value is 2 or less, it easily meets its own resurrection criteria, allowing you to cycle this pair infinitely for an unbounded supply of colored mana and endless death triggers.
