How it works

1. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing Shepherd of the Cosmos, adding .
2. When Shepherd of the Cosmos dies, Necrogen Communion triggers, returning Shepherd of the Cosmos from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. When Shepherd of the Cosmos enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Necrogen Communion from your graveyard to the battlefield attached to Shepherd of the Cosmos.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Thermopod into an infinite red mana engine by exploiting a recursive loop of triggers between Shepherd of the Cosmos and Necrogen Communion. When you sacrifice the Shepherd to the Thermopod, Necrogen Communion's death trigger immediately returns the Shepherd to the battlefield, which in turn triggers its ability to fish the Necrogen Communion right back out of the graveyard and attach it to the creature once more. Because the Shepherd's mana value is 2, it continually targets the enchantment that just saved it, letting you endlessly repeat the cycle for boundless sacrifice, death, and entry triggers.
