How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Shepherd of the Cosmos.
2. When Shepherd of the Cosmos dies, Fungal Fortitude triggers, returning Shepherd of the Cosmos from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. When Shepherd of the Cosmos enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Fungal Fortitude from your graveyard to the battlefield attached to Shepherd of the Cosmos.
4. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Shepherd of the Cosmos and Fungal Fortitude into an endless cycle of sacrifice and resurrection. When you use Umbral Collar Zealot to sacrifice the Shepherd, Fungal Fortitude steps in to bring it right back to the battlefield tapped, which in turn triggers the Shepherd's own ability to pull Fungal Fortitude back from the graveyard and reattach it. Meanwhile, Umbral Collar Zealot's sacrifice outlet lets you continually trigger the loop while digging through your library with endless surveil 1 activations.
