How it works

1. Gain life.
2. Light of Promise triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Herd Baloth.
3. Herd Baloth triggers, creating a creature token.
4. When the creature token enters the battlefield, Answered Prayers triggers, causing you to gain 1 life.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This loop is a gorgeous demonstration of how three seemingly modest permanents can feed into one another to create an unstoppable cascade. Once you initiate the sequence by gaining life, Light of Promise triggers to place +1/+1 counters on Herd Baloth. That influx of counters makes Herd Baloth trigger to churn out a 4/4 green Beast token. Every time that token arrives, Answered Prayers triggers to grant you 1 life—which loops right back around to fuel Light of Promise all over again.
