How it works

1. Gain life.
2. Light of Promise triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Scurry Oak.
3. Scurry Oak triggers, creating a creature token.
4. When the creature token enters the battlefield, Hinterland Sanctifier triggers, causing you to gain 1 life.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This delightful loop sets off a continuous chain reaction built on mutually reinforcing triggers: whenever you gain life, Light of Promise transforms Scurry Oak into a rapidly growing threat by placing +1/+1 counters upon it. That growth immediately activates Scurry Oak's own text to spawn a fresh 1/1 Squirrel token. As that token enters the battlefield, Hinterland Sanctifier quietly steps in to reward you with a life point, which feeds right back into Light of Promise to restart the entire sequence.
