How it works

1. Gain life.
2. Light of Promise triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Scurry Oak.
3. Scurry Oak triggers, creating a creature token.
4. When the creature token enters the battlefield, Thunder of Unity triggers, causing you to gain 1 life and each opponent to lose 1 life.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This clever loop transforms a single instance of life gain into a self-sustaining cascade of growth and attrition. Once Thunder of Unity provides its passive life-draining trigger upon creature entry, gaining any amount of life sets Light of Promise into motion to place +1/+1 counters on Scurry Oak. That counter placement immediately triggers Scurry Oak to spawn a Squirrel token, which enters the battlefield to trigger Thunder of Unity all over again—gaining you the life needed to restart the cycle and continuously pump your creature while draining your opponents.
