How it works

1. Activate Essence Depleter by paying 1C, causing you to gain 1 life and an opponent to lose 1 life.
2. Cryptic Trilobite triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on itself.
3. Activate Cryptic Trilobite by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, adding CC that can only be spent to activate abilities.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Cryptic Trilobite as the engine, using its ability to generate the mana needed to keep going. By feeding that colorless mana into Essence Depleter's activated ability, you drain your opponent while gaining life, which neatly triggers Light of Promise to continually pump up your Trilobite. Every time you drain your opponent, Light of Promise's triggered ability rewards you with a fresh +1/+1 counter on the Trilobite, replenishing the fuel you just spent to keep the cycle spinning.
