How it works

1. Gain life.
2. Fathom Mage triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it
3. Fathom Mage triggers, causing you to draw a card.
4. Queza triggers, causing you to gain 1 life and target opponent to lose 1 life.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This elegant loop begins the moment you trigger Light of Promise's enchantment effect, which turns any instance of lifegain into a torrent of +1/+1 counters on Fathom Mage. As those counters pile up, Fathom Mage's evolve and innate counter-triggered abilities reward you by drawing cards. That card draw immediately commands Queza, Augur of Agonies to drain an opponent's life while padding your own total, which loops right back into Light of Promise to restart the cycle.
