How it works

1. Cast Kokusho by paying 4.
2. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Kokusho.
3. When Kokusho dies, it and Enduring Renewal trigger.
4. Resolve the Enduring Renewal trigger, returning Kokusho from your graveyard to your hand.
5. Resolve the Kokusho trigger, causing each opponent to lose 5 life and you to gain life equal to the life lost this way.
6. Crystalline Crawler triggers, putting a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the life you gained.
7. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to Kokusho's power.
8. Activate Crystalline Crawler's first ability six times by removing six +1/+1 counters from it, adding 4.
9. Repeat.

This loop turns the life-draining dragon Kokusho, the Evening Star into a self-sustaining engine by letting Altar of Dementia sacrifice it for mill while Enduring Renewal immediately rescues it right back to your hand. Meanwhile, Light of Promise acts as a vital amplifier, turning the massive life you gain from Kokusho's death into an avalanche of +1/+1 counters on Crystalline Crawler. You then cash in those newly minted counters using Crystalline Crawler's mana ability to fund recasting Kokusho over and over, draining your opponents out of the game entirely.
