How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Moritte of the Frost.
2. When Moritte of the Frost dies, it triggers its persist ability, returning itself to the battlefield as a copy of the creature with persist with two +1/+1 counters and one -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Remove one +1/+1 counter and one -1/-1 counter from Moritte of the Frost as a state-based action.
4. Resolve the activated ability from step 1.
5. Repeat.

This clever engine hinges on Shilgengar, Sire of Famine turning your graveyard recursion into a loop by sacrificing Moritte of the Frost to feed its appetite for Blood tokens. Because Moritte of the Frost enters the battlefield as a copy of a creature with persist, it delightfully sidesteps the usual clone restrictions while exploiting the persist mechanic to continuously trigger its own return. Once you have accumulated enough sacrifices to pay Shilgengar, Sire of Famine's heavy mana and Blood token cost, you can flood the board with your entire graveyard of creatures, generating an infinite stream of sacrifice and entry triggers along the way.
