How it works

  1. Activate Jegantha by tapping it, adding W manaU manaB manaR manaG mana that cannot be spent to pay generic mana costs.
  2. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Jegantha.
  3. Activate Horde of Notions by paying W manaU manaB manaR manaG mana, causing you to cast Jegantha from your graveyard without paying its mana cost.
  4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Jegantha, the Wellspring into an endlessly recycled mana engine by tapping it for the exact five-color mana restriction it requires, then immediately feeding it to Ashnod's Altar to generate a surplus of colorless mana. To keep the cycle going, Horde of Notions steps in from the command zone or battlefield, utilizing that five-color mana to continuously drag Jegantha straight out of the graveyard and back onto the battlefield for free. While Thousand-Year Elixir isn't strictly required in the core resurrection loop, its passive ability to let you activate creature abilities as though they had haste—alongside its untap utility—can help bridge the gap or accelerate your setup.
