How it works

  1. Activate Jegantha by tapping it, adding W manaU manaB manaR manaG mana that cannot be spent to pay generic mana costs.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Jegantha.
  3. Activate Horde of Notions by paying W manaU manaB manaR manaG mana, causing you to cast Jegantha from your graveyard without paying its mana cost.
  4. Repeat.

This loop achieves an infinite cycle of recursion by constantly recycling Jegantha, the Wellspring from the graveyard using Horde of Notions, which provides the necessary five-color activation cost with mana generated by tapping Jegantha itself. Since Jegantha's mana restriction requires colored mana to be spent exclusively on colored pips, tapping it provides the exact colors needed to fuel Horde of Notions' ability. Phyrexian Altar acts as the sacrificial outlet that sends Jegantha back to the graveyard while yielding any color of mana to help pay for Horde of Notions or other spells. While Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded isn't directly tapped in the active loop steps, its static ability grants haste to creatures entering the battlefield, and its other text features fit right into red-inclusive decklists.
