How it works

1. Activate Basalt Monolith's first ability by tapping it, adding CCC.
2. Activate Basalt Monolith's second ability by paying 2, which is reduced due to Ragost making it a Food and Sam's reduction, untapping it.
3. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on turning Basalt Monolith into a Food artifact thanks to Ragost, Deft Gastronaut, allowing Sam, Loyal Attendant to step in and discount its untap ability down to just two mana. Because Basalt Monolith taps to produce three colorless mana, you can feed two of that mana back into its discounted untap ability and net one colorless mana each cycle. Meanwhile, Ragost, Deft Gastronaut tracks the life you might gain along the way, untapping itself at the end step if you've triggered its condition, tying the whole flavorful apparatus together.
