How it works
- Activate a creature using Grist's first loyalty ability by putting a loyalty counter on it, causing you to create a 1/1 Insect creature token and mill a card, and then put a loyalty counter on the creature and repeat the process if the card was an Insect.
- The Insect enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it due to Metallic Mimic, causing it to have Grist's abilities.
- Repeat from step 1 using the Insect token instead.
This intricate loop turns your graveyard and library into an engine for infinite value, leveraging the way Metallic Mimic ensures every token enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter already on it. With that counter in place, Agatha's Soul Cauldron allows your creatures to inherit the activated abilities of any creature cards in exile, specifically granting your newly minted tokens the power of Grist, the Hunger Tide. Because Grist counts as a creature everywhere except the battlefield, it can be exiled into the Cauldron to gift its loyalty-boosting first ability directly to your board. As your Insect tokens repeatedly mill cards and generate more of themselves, you can chain the process infinitely whenever you mill another Insect, flooding the battlefield and your graveyard alike.
