How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Dimir Aqueduct.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Dimir Aqueduct.
5. When Dimir Aqueduct dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Dimir Aqueduct from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Dimir Aqueduct enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms a humble zero-mana artifact into an infinite engine by leveraging the continuous type-granting effect of Toph, the First Metalbender, which turns your nontoken artifacts into lands. With Dimir Aqueduct in play, you can cast your artifact to trigger Toph, Hardheaded Teacher's earthbend ability, animating the bounceland into a creature. From there, you sacrifice the animated land to Phyrexian Altar for mana, which triggers Toph, Hardheaded Teacher's return clause to bring the land right back to the battlefield. Because Dimir Aqueduct enters as a land thanks to the First Metalbender, its bounce trigger effortlessly scoops your zero-mana artifact back to your hand to start the cycle anew.
