How it works

1. Activate Food Chain by exiling Misthollow Griffin, adding that can only be spent to cast creature spells.
2. Cast Misthollow Griffin from exile by paying 2.
3. Repeat.

This classic loop turns an ordinary exile zone into your own personal creature-factory by pairing Food Chain with the unique recursion of Misthollow Griffin. Because Food Chain allows you to sacrifice any creature to generate mana equal to its mana value plus one, exiling the Griffin yields five blue mana—more than enough to cover its four-mana casting cost. This leaves you with leftover mana at each iteration while Misthollow Griffin's static ability lets you cast it straight back out of exile, repeating the process to generate infinite colored mana specifically for creature spells alongside an endless stream of enters-the-battlefield triggers.
