How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Thunderblust
2. When Thunderblust dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Thunderblust enters, Stalwart Successor triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Thunderblust
4. Repeat.

This cunning little loop relies on the brilliant counterplay between Thunderblust and Stalwart Successor to perpetually cheat death. Every time Thunderblust enters the battlefield with a persist-generated -1/+1 counter, Stalwart Successor's triggered ability steps in as the ultimate mediator, placing a +1/+1 counter on it that immediately cancels out the -1/-1 counter through state-based actions. This leaves Thunderblust's slate completely wiped clean for the next trip to the graveyard, where Thermopod is eagerly waiting to sacrifice it for red mana and fuel the entire engine all over again.
