How it works

1. Activate Kumena's first ability by tapping another nontoken Merfolk you control.
2. Deeproot Pilgrimage triggers, creating a 1/1 Merfolk creature token.
3. Resolve the Kumena ability.
4. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing the Merfolk token.
5. When the Merfolk dies, Faces of the Past triggers, untapping all Merfolk.
6. Repeat.

This elegant loop transforms your Merfolk colony into a self-sustaining mana engine. By tapping a nontoken Merfolk to activate Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca's unblockable ability, you trigger Deeproot Pilgrimage to instantly replace your tapped fish with a fresh 1/1 token. You then feed that token to Thermopod, generating red mana while its sacrifice sets off Faces of the Past, whose death-triggered wave ripples across the battlefield to untap all your Merfolk. With everything refreshed and your mana flowing, you can loop this process indefinitely—or pivot to drawing your deck with Kumena's second ability and pumping your entire squad with its third.
