How it works

1. Activate Kumena's first ability by tapping another nontoken Merfolk you control.
2. Deeproot Pilgrimage triggers, creating a 1/1 Merfolk creature token.
3. Resolve the Kumena ability.
4. Activate Phantom Train by sacrificing the Merfolk token.
5. When the Merfolk dies, Faces of the Past triggers, untapping all Merfolk.
6. Resolve the Phantom Train ability.
7. Repeat.

This ingenious little engine relies on the interplay between Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca and Deeproot Pilgrimage to turn the simple act of tapping a Merfolk into a compounding advantage, creating a brand new Merfolk token whenever you tap a nontoken Merfolk. By sacrificing that newly minted token to Phantom Train, you trigger Faces of the Past, whose static watcher immediately untaps all your Merfolk the moment the token dies. This leaves your original Merfolk refreshed and ready to tap for Kumena's ability all over again, fueling an endless loop that generates infinite tokens, counters, and card draw.
