How it works

1. Activate Spawning Pit by sacrificing River Kelpie.
2. River Kelpie's persist triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. River Kelpie enters the battlefield, causing you to draw.
4. Resolve the Spawning Pit ability.
5. Repeat.

This loop is an alchemy of resurrection and containment, where Solemnity acts as the anchor by completely preventing counters from being placed on your permanents. Because of this static ability, when you sacrifice River Kelpie to Spawning Pit, its persist trigger brings it right back without the hindering -1/-1 counter it would normally receive. Every time River Kelpie re-enters the battlefield from the graveyard, its own triggered ability rewards you by drawing a card, fueling an endless engine that turns a single sacrifice outlet into infinite card draw and near-infinite triggers.
