Return the Favor
Target opponent loses the game

How it works

  1. Deal combat damage to an opponent using Etrata, triggering its ability.
  2. Holding priority, activate Adric by paying 2U mana and tapping it, copying Etrata's trigger.
  3. Holding priority, cast Return the Favor by paying 1R manaR mana, choosing its first mode, copying Etrata's trigger.
  4. Resolve all Etrata triggers, exiling three creatures an opponent controls and putting hit counters on them, and then causing that opponent to lose the game.

This clever assassination loop leverages the recursive hit-counter mechanic on Etrata, the Silencer by multiplying a single successful combat damage trigger into a devastating trio. When Etrata connects with an opponent, Adric, Mathematical Genius steps in to copy that crucial trigger using its dedicated activated ability, while Return the Favor provides an additional magical duplication via its flexible spree cost. By engineering multiple copies of the original trigger on the stack, you rapidly exile three separate creatures owned by that player and place hit counters on all of them, instantly satisfying Etrata's alternative win condition and causing them to lose the game in one fell swoop.
