How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Iridescent Drake.
2. When Iridescent Drake dies, The Cauldron of Eternity and Pattern of Rebirth trigger.
3. Resolve the Cauldron of Eternity trigger, putting Iridescent Drake on the bottom of your library from your graveyard.
4. Resolve the Pattern of Rebirth trigger, putting Iridescent Drake from your library onto the battlefield.
5. When Iridescent Drake enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Pattern of Rebirth from your graveyard to the battlefield attached to Iridescent Drake.
6. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability from step 1, causing target player to mill cards equal to Iridescent Drake's power.
7. Repeat.

This recursive loop transforms Altar of Dementia into a mill engine by continuously recycling a single creature through your library and graveyard. When you sacrifice Iridescent Drake to mill your opponent, its death triggers both Pattern of Rebirth to fetch it straight from your library and The Cauldron of Eternity to tuck it away. Crucially, as Iridescent Drake re-enters the battlefield, its triggered ability plucks Pattern of Rebirth right back out of the graveyard to re-attach itself, setting the stage to do it all over again.
