How it works
- Cast Triumph of the Hordes by paying 2, giving creatures you control +1/+1, trample and infect until end of turn.
- Deal combat damage to an opponent using Withengar Unbound, causing them to get at least ten poison counters.
- The opponent loses the game as a state-based action due to having ten or more poison counters.
- Withengar Unbound triggers, putting thirteen +1/+1 counters on it.
- Activate Withengar Unbound using Walking Ballista's second ability by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, giving an opponent a poison counter.
- Repeat step 5 until the opponent loses the game as a state-based action due to having ten or more poison counters.
- Repeat from step 4.
By casting Triumph of the Hordes, you grant your attackers infect and trample so that the combat damage dealt by Withengar Unbound (the transformed reverse side of Elbrus, the Binding Blade) instantly hands your opponent a lethal dose of poison counters. Once that player succumbs and loses the game, Withengar Unbound’s triggered ability dumps thirteen +1/+1 counters straight onto it. This massive pile of counters empowers the creature thanks to Agatha's Soul Cauldron, which bestows upon it Walking Ballista's activated ability to ping targets by removing a counter. You can then repeatedly strip those counters away to deal lethal damage or poison your remaining foes, triggering Withengar Unbound over and over again in a devastating loop of player elimination.
