How it works

  1. Cast Scrollshift by paying its mana cost, blinking Abdel Adrian.
  2. Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, returning Skullwinder and all other cards that were exiled with it to the battlefield.
  3. Abdel Adrian and Skullwinder trigger.
  4. Resolve the Skullwinder trigger, returning Scrollshift from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Holding priority, activate any number of nonland permanents you control by tapping them, adding at least enough mana to cast Scrollshift.
  6. Resolve the Abdel Adrian trigger, exiling Skullwinder and the mana-producing permanents until Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token for each permanent exiled this way.
  7. Repeat.

This loop transforms the humble Scrollshift into an endless engine of blinking and mana generation, anchored by Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward repeatedly cycling in and out of exile. Every time Abdel Adrian re-enters the battlefield, it scoops up Skullwinder and your mana-producing permanents, and Skullwinder's arrival ensures that Scrollshift is constantly fished right back out of your graveyard to keep the chain going. Because Skullwinder's graveyard recursion is mandatory for both you and an opponent, this precise orchestration ultimately funnels every single card out of your own graveyard while letting your chosen opponent empty theirs, all while flooding the board with an endless army of Soldier tokens.
