How it works
- Cast Volcano Hellion by paying 2.
- When Volcano Hellion enters the battlefield, it triggers, dealing an arbitrarily large amount of damage to you and Volcano Hellion.
- Instead of you losing the game as a state-based action, Lich's Mirror causes you to shuffle your hand, graveyard and all permanents you own into your library, causing Rhox Faithmender to return to the battlefield as Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, and causing you to gain life equal to twice the amount of damage dealt to you plus 40.
This wild loop exploits the unpreventable damage of Volcano Hellion by targeting both yourself and the Hellion itself for an arbitrarily large amount of life loss, which would normally spell defeat. However, the moment state-based actions see you lose the game, Lich's Mirror steps in to save you by wiping your hand, graveyard, and all your permanents—including Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward—back into your library while resetting your life total to 20 and giving you a fresh hand of seven cards. As Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, everything he had exiled (including Rhox Faithmender) floods back in, setting up a cascading rebirth. Thanks to Rhox Faithmender's replacement effect doubling all your life gain, you ultimately reap an astronomical amount of life to fuel your next iteration.
