How it works

  1. Cast Blur by paying its mana cost, blinking Abdel Adrian.
  2. Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, returning Returned Pastcaller and all other cards that were exiled with it to the battlefield.
  3. Abdel Adrian and Returned Pastcaller trigger.
  4. Resolve the Returned Pastcaller trigger, returning Blur from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Holding priority, activate any number of nonland permanents you control by tapping them, adding at least enough mana to cast Blur.
  6. Resolve the Abdel Adrian trigger, exiling Returned Pastcaller and the mana-producing permanents until Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token for each permanent exiled this way.
  7. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward cycling back and forth between exile and the battlefield to continuously generate an army of Soldier tokens while fueling your mana sources. Each time Abdel Adrian enters, he swallows up Returned Pastcaller alongside whatever mana-producing permanents you need to keep the engine running. When Blur blinks Abdel Adrian away, Returned Pastcaller immediately snaps back into play to fish Blur right back out of your graveyard and back into your hand. Because Blur replaces itself by letting you draw a card on resolution, you aren't just spinning your wheels—you are churning through your entire deck while repeating this infinite flicker cycle.
