How it works
Cast Scrollshift by paying its mana cost, blinking Abdel Adrian.
Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, returning Returned Pastcaller and all other cards that were exiled with it to the battlefield.
Abdel Adrian and Returned Pastcaller trigger.
Resolve the Returned Pastcaller trigger, returning Scrollshift from your graveyard to your hand.
Holding priority, activate any number of nonland permanents you control by tapping them, adding at least enough mana to cast Scrollshift.
Resolve the Abdel Adrian trigger, exiling Returned Pastcaller and the mana-producing permanents until Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token for each permanent exiled this way.
Repeat.
This clever loop turns a simple blink spell into an unstoppable engine by leveraging Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward to repeatedly cycle your board. Each iteration begins when you cast Scrollshift to blink Abdel Adrian, which triggers Returned Pastcaller from your graveyard to hand while setting up Abdel's exile trigger. When Abdel Adrian returns to the battlefield, it eats Returned Pastcaller alongside any mana sources you tapped for mana, generating a massive army of Soldier tokens in the process. Because Scrollshift draws a card upon resolution, you are smoothly digging through your entire deck while repeating this sequence indefinitely.
