Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward + Returned Pastcaller + Essence Flux
How it works
- Cast Essence Flux by paying its mana cost, blinking Abdel Adrian.
- Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, returning Returned Pastcaller and all other cards that were exiled with it to the battlefield.
- Abdel Adrian and Returned Pastcaller trigger.
- Resolve the Returned Pastcaller trigger, returning Essence Flux from your graveyard to your hand.
- Holding priority, activate any number of nonland permanents you control by tapping them, adding at least enough mana to cast Essence Flux.
- Resolve the Abdel Adrian trigger, exiling Returned Pastcaller and the mana-producing permanents until Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token for each permanent exiled this way.
- Repeat.
This brilliant loop turns a simple blink spell into an infinite engine by leveraging Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward to continuously re-exile and refresh your board. When you cast Essence Flux to blink Abdel Adrian, his departure triggers the return of Returned Pastcaller, whose entry ability immediately plucks Essence Flux right back out of your graveyard to hand. Returned Pastcaller is a Spirit, which cleverly causes Essence Flux to toss a +1/+1 counter on it upon its return, while Abdel Adrian's subsequent enter-the-battlefield trigger re-exiles Returned Pastcaller along with any mana-producing permanents you need to pay for the next iteration. This cycle endlessly floods the board with 1/1 Soldier tokens while generating limitless enter-the-battlefield, leave-the-battlefield, and magecraft triggers.
