How it works

  1. Cast Abdel Adrian either from your hand or from the command zone by paying 4W mana and commander tax, if applicable.
  2. When Abdel Adrian enters the battlefield, it triggers, exiling Wispweaver Angel until Abedl Adrian leaves the battlefield and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
  3. Cast Planar Incision by paying its mana cost, blinking Abdel Adrian.
  4. Abdel Adrian leaves and enters the battlefield, causing Wispweaver Angel to return to the battlefield from exile, and triggering Abdel Adrian and Wispweaver Angel's enter abilities.
  5. Resolve the Abdel Adrian trigger, exiling Wispweaver Angel until Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token.
  6. Resolve the Wispweaver Angel trigger, blinking Abdel Adrian.
  7. Repeat from step 4.

This elegant engine harnesses a repeating loop of entry and exit triggers to flood the board with an endless army. By using Planar Incision just once to kick things off, you set into motion a cascading exchange between Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward and Wispweaver Angel: every time Abdel Adrian re-enters the battlefield, he temporarily pockets the Angel and spits out a 1/1 Soldier token, which in turn immediately triggers the returning Angel to blink Abdel Adrian right back out again. Because Abdel Adrian's own enter-the-battlefield ability resets the exile zone each time, you also get to continuously churn through any other nonland permanents you've managed to tuck away alongside the Angel.
