How it works

1. Cast Essence Flux by paying its mana cost, blinking Abdel Adrian.
2. Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, returning Scholar of the Ages and all other cards that were exiled with it to the battlefield.
3. Abdel Adrian and Scholar of the Ages trigger.
4. Resolve the Scholar of the Ages trigger, returning Essence Flux from your graveyard to your hand.
5. Holding priority, activate any number of nonland permanents you control by tapping them, adding at least enough mana to cast Essence Flux.
6. Resolve the Abdel Adrian trigger, exiling Scholar of the Ages and the mana-producing permanents until Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token for each permanent exiled this way.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop centers on Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward, who acts as the ultimate blink target by swallowing your other nonland permanents and flooding the board with Soldier tokens whenever he enters. By casting Essence Flux to start the chain, you trigger Abdel Adrian to leave and re-enter the battlefield, which in turn drops Scholar of the Ages right back alongside him. Scholar of the Ages does the heavy lifting of pulling Essence Flux straight out of your graveyard and back to your hand, ready to restart the cycle. Meanwhile, Abdel Adrian's exile trigger safely tucks away your mana-producing permanents—allowing you to tap them for mana before they vanish—and recycles them every single iteration to fuel the next Essence Flux.
