How it works

1. Deal combat damage to an opponent using Obeka. Obeka triggers, causing you to get that many upkeep steps after this one.
2. Move to your first extra upkeep. At the beginning of that upkeep, Braid of Fire triggers, putting an age counter on it and adding for each age counter on it.
3. Repeat step 2 for each other upkeep step.
4. During your postcombat main phase, activate Aggravated Assault by paying 3, causing you to untap all creatures you control and get an additional combat and main phase after this one.
5. Repeat.

This brilliant loop turns Obeka, Splitter of Seconds into an absolute engine of temporal excess by converting her combat damage triggers into a cascading series of extra upkeeps. As those numerous upkeep steps roll in, Braid of Fire scales up exponentially to flood your mana pool with an overwhelming amount of red mana. Because Upwelling ensures that your hard-earned mana doesn't drain away as phases and steps end, you can safely stockpile these immense reserves. Finally, you channel that floating mana into Aggravated Assault to continually untap your creatures and chain infinite combat phases, letting Obeka strike again and again.
