How it works

  1. Move to your postcombat main phase.
  2. Shadow of the Second Sun triggers, causing you to get an additional beginning phase after this phase.
  3. Activate all lands you control by tapping them, adding at least 6R manaR manaR manaR mana.
  4. Activate Aggravated Assault by paying 3R manaR mana, causing you to untap all creatures you control and to get an additional combat and main phase after this one.
  5. Repeat step 4 one additonal time.
  6. Move to the main phase from step 5.
  7. At the beginning of the main phase, Shadow of the Second Sun triggers, causing you to get an additional beginning phase after this phase.
  8. Move to the beginning phase from step 7, causing you to untap all lands you control and draw a card.
  9. Move to the main phase from step 4.
  10. Repeat from step 2.

This clever loop turns your postcombat main phase into a perpetual motion machine by combining extra combat steps with extra beginning phases. While Aggravated Assault provides the recurring combat phases and creature untaps for `{3}{R}{R}`, its ability normally requires a massive mana investment to sustain. That is where Shadow of the Second Sun steps in: by enchanting yourself, its triggered ability tacks an entire additional beginning phase—complete with an untap step for your lands and a card draw—onto the end of your main phase, refreshing your mana supply so you can activate Aggravated Assault over and over again.
